In the beginning, Chefette established its headquarters on Rickett Street, St. Michael, in January 1972. After months of planning and construction, Chefette was born with the opening of its first location on December 13th, 1972, at Fontabelle, St. Michael. This outlet which occupied only 1,500 square feet of space employed 30 staff and boasted the best equipment available then. A small but varied menu featuring our famous broasted chicken, rotis, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, milk shakes and soft drinks, were offered to the Barbadian public.
In October 1973, Chefette was able to open its second restaurant located in Rockley, Christ Church. Affectionately called the 'Flag Ship' of the Chefette chain of restaurants, Chefette Rockley quickly became a favourite haunt for both locals and visitors to the island.
Due to the success of the first two restaurants, in 1976 Chefette opened its third location in Lower Broad Street. This location featured a Restaurant and small Barbecue Barn, along with the unique wide choice menu. The strategic positioning of this restaurant eventually elevated it to be known as Chefette's foundation within the island's capital of Bridgetown.
