Charities

At Chefette, corporate social responsibility is a guiding principle upon which the company has been built as it recognises the importance of giving back to the community. Chefette is proud to continuously support numerous charities, non profit organisations, schools and churches throughout the island.

Chefette Donation Box Program

Since 2001, Chefette has implemented a quarterly Donation Box program whereby donation boxes are placed at all its locations across the island and funds collected. Distribution of the funds are made quarterly to one of the following seven (7) charitable organisations - Diabetes Association, Salvation Army, Variety Club, Barbados Red Cross, Special Olympics, Youth With A Mission and St. Vincent De Paul. Chefette also tops up the fund every quarter before distribution.

Chefette Helping Hand Fund

In January 1998, Chefette extended its hand of charity a bit further with the establishment of a Chefette Helping Hand Fund in the amount of $30,000 for the needy in Barbados.

Barbados Red Cross

Since 1975, Chefette has assisted the Barbados Red Cross Society's "Meals on Wheels" programme with annual donations of 1,440 pounds of beef and 2,400 pounds of potatoes.

Thelma Vaughan Memorial Home

For over 20 years, Chefette has generated proceeds in all of its locations and Corporate Offices through the sale of Christmas cards, tags and wrapping paper to assist the Thelma Vaughan Memorial Home. The Children's Home was opened in April 1971 with the assistance of the Leonard Cheshire Foundation International which provided funds for the conversion of the building and provided the Home’s first matron. Today, the home provides 24-hour residential care for the physically disabled children and young people.

The Substance Abuse Foundation (Verdun House)

Since June 2004, Chefette entered into a covenant to financially assist the Substance Abuse Foundation. In 2006, the convenant was restructured to a total of $20,000 over a 6-year period.

The National HIV/AIDS Commission

In 2004, Chefette entered into a covenant to assisit the National HIV/AIDS Commission with a total of $25,000 over a 5-year period.

Farrs Children’s Home

In 2003 Chefette adopted the Farrs Children’s Home in St. Peter, which was opened in 1967 for both infants and adolescents. In 2006 Chefette Restaurants donated Computer equipment, a basket ball set and a living room suite to the adolescents of the Farrs Children’s Home.

Nightingale Children’s Home

In September 2006 Chefette assisted the Nightingale Children’s Home in Black Rock, St. Michael with computer equipment and furniture.

Sterling Children’s Home

Since 2007, Chefette and its staff have an annual movie night with the Sterling Children's Home where they watch movies, eat and play sports & games together.

The Olga Lopes-Seale Ship Inn Fun Run

Since 2005, Chefette has assisted in the annual charitable event of the Olga Lopes-Seale Ship Inn Fun Run for the needy children. From 2007, Chefette was the sponsor of the Chefette Kids Funland Area.
